How it works

An NFC chip is a tiny antenna, about the size of a coin, embedded inside a card, a sticker or a table stand. It has no battery and doesn't need its own internet connection: it activates the moment a phone with NFC — nearly every smartphone since 2015 — comes within a couple of inches. At that instant, the phone runs the action the chip is programmed with on its own, with no camera to open, nothing to scan and no app to install.

The chip alone doesn't sell anything — what makes it valuable is where you place it and what action it triggers. The same chip can be the silent hero of a restaurant if it calls the server, or of a barbershop if it books the next appointment, as long as it sits exactly where the customer already has the phone in hand, with the right message inviting them to tap.

Every chip ships with a backup QR code built into the same piece, for the small share of phones with NFC turned off — the customer is never left without a way to use it.
